Action for Human Rights (HRA) sent a letter to the Supreme State Prosecutor Ivica Stanković, regarding the submission of a request for protection of legality in the final judgment in the case of Deportation of refugees from Montenegro.
The HRA pointed to the findings of several international expert bodies on the inadequate application of international law in the prosecution of war crimes cases, especially in the case of "Deportation" and "Bukovica", in which acquittals were handed down.
According to them, such a position was expressed by the Committee for Protection against Torture, the United Nations Working Group on Enforced Disappearances, the expert of the European Commission, Mauricio Salustro, and Amnesty International.
"We asked Stanković a question about whether the state prosecutor's office submitted the announced request for protection of legality to the Supreme Court against the final verdict in the case of Deportation of refugees," HRA announced.
They also asked Stanković if there is a strategy against impunity for war crimes in Montenegro.
In the letter, HRA asked Stanković to inform the public about the strategy of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office to deal with impunity in this, as well as in all other known cases of war crimes.
In war crimes, Bukovica, Kaluđerski laz, Štrpci, the siege of the wider area of Dubrovnik, the victims, as they pointed out, are indisputable, "but for various reasons, the responsibility of all those responsible for those victims has not been determined".
The HRA emphasized that the state prosecutor's offices of neighboring countries also have such a strategy.
They reminded that on November 20, 2013, they sent the acting VDT Veselin Vukčević a detailed initiative for the protection of legality in that case.
"After that, we sent several inquiries about whether the initiative was considered and a request that the public be informed when such a request is submitted," HRA said.
