A prerequisite for strengthening the cooperation of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with other entities in society is transparent work, said the Coalition of NGOs Cooperation with the goal.
The coalition presented the publication Financial reports of members for 2013, the aim of which, as they explained, is to contribute to the improvement of the programmatic and financial transparency of the work of the non-governmental sector in Montenegro.
"We believe that in this way we can contribute to the improvement of relations between civil society organizations and other interested parties," said the president of the Coalition's Management Board, Goran Đurović.
According to him, the publication of annual financial reports is part of the obligations of members of that coalition.
"The public should also have the information that the Cooperation to the Goal Coalition, as a legal entity, has had no income since 2009, and all work in this organization is carried out on a volunteer basis," explained Đurović.
The Statute of the Coalition, as he stated, does not allow the collection of funds for the work of the organization so that the Coalition, as a legal entity, would not be a competitor to its members.
"Members of the Coalition achieved total income in 2013 in the amount of EUR 4,02 million from foreign sources in 2013, while members provided EUR 3,03 million," announced Đurović.
During 2013, the members of the Cooperation to the Goal Coalition were supported for the financing of their projects from public funds with 749.000 euros, and they paid 354.000 euros in the name of employee income tax.
"The total income of the members from individual donors (natural persons) is 74.000 euros," said Đurović.
The total income of the members from business entities, he added, is 24.600 euros.
"Members of the Coalition of NGOs with the highest annual incomes, who are also the most frequent subject of unargued attacks, paid much more funds into the budget of Montenegro than they received on the basis of projects from public funds," Đurović concluded. He pointed out that in 2013, 206 people were employed in non-governmental organizations, members of the Coalition of NGOs.
"Instead of citizens being informed that NGOs contribute to the development of society, the employment of young people and the inflow of money from abroad, the image is often created that they are a burden on the citizens of Montenegro," said Đurović.
The report published by the members, as he stated, refutes theses in the best possible way, which are placed in public for various reasons.
