Insulin has not been available in the "Kruševac" state pharmacy for a long time, the only one where diabetics can get this medicine.

Although "Montefarm" announced yesterday that they have "novorapid" insulin, the workers at the "Kruševac" pharmacy told patients to come today, because it is not available yet.

Medicines were delivered yesterday, but the pharmacy did not receive insulin, antiepileptic "carbabapine" and "povidone" iodine.

"Montefarm" said that "carbapine" has been in short supply for more than a month, because the manufacturer does not have it and that, according to the latest information, it is expected at the beginning of March.

They claim that only hospital pharmacies are supplied with iodine.

The pensioner, who wished to remain anonymous, said that he had been looking for the mentioned medicines for 10 days and that yesterday there was not even "ranitidine", which is intended for the treatment of diseases in which the secretion of stomach acid is increased.

As he told "Vijesti", he is having a hard time with the shortage of medicines, especially insulin.

"Every day I go to get the medicine prescribed by the doctor, but it is not there. This did not happen even during the war... that the state does not take care of diabetics", he said, pointing out that he cannot buy insulin in private pharmacies.

It also lacks "glucagon" to raise blood sugar levels

A parent whose child suffers from diabetes claims that he is also disappointed by the fact that in KCCG there are no "glucagon" injections for diabetics, which are given when the patient has a very low blood glucose value:

"In case the child is life-threatening and unconscious, he should receive that injection at the Institute for Children's Diseases, at the Department of Endocrinology."

He clarified that the state pharmacy does not even have boxes with elements, the so-called strips for the device for measuring blood sugar, the price of which is 15 euros.

He also emphasized that treatment of children with insulin pumps has not yet been introduced in Montenegro.
