The Ministry of Science of Montenegro has extended the deadline for applying to the 2019 CERN Student Summer School Competition until January 21.
As the government department points out, these are attractive scholarships for the stay of Montenegrin students in the world's leading laboratory, which are made possible thanks to the Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) on scientific and technical cooperation in the field of high-energy physics. .
The Ministry of Science, upon completion of the competition, which was announced on November 15 last year, will select four candidates, after which CERN will carry out the final selection by the end of April this year.
The CERN Student Summer School takes place every year for eight to 13 weeks during July and August and includes theoretical training, participation in workshops, seminars, exhibitions, as well as experimental work. The best Montenegrin students will have the opportunity to get involved in the daily work of CERN's large research teams, which carry out interdisciplinary research and visit CERN's laboratories and facilities.
Students from the fields of physics and engineering, especially ICT, have the right to participate.
Selected students receive 2.700 Swiss francs per month for living and accommodation expenses, covered travel expenses, as well as health insurance. In addition to professional work in CERN's laboratory, numerous visits to large nearby European cities, cultural, tourist, sports and other locations were also organized.
Students can find all information about the competition at website of the Ministry of Science.
