The Center for the Protection and Study of Birds of Montenegro, as part of the ORHIBA project, will organize a street eco-quiz Protect the Birds for the citizens of Podgorica and Tivat.
The Center announced that the aim of the project is to preserve the diversity of bird species on the Adriatic Migratory Corridor.
The organization said that the project is focused on improving the protection of endangered bird species in the Balkans.
In February, the public in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina will have the opportunity to once again learn about the importance of protecting birds and their habitats in these two countries.
"This activity will be held simultaneously in Mostar and Čapljina, in Bosnia and Herzegovina," the organization said.
The project is financed, as announced, by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA).
The NGO explained that the project will be implemented in the Nature Park "Hutovo Blato" in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the special floristic and faunal reserve Tivatska Solila in Montenegro.
As reported, 346 species of birds reside in those two locations temporarily or permanently.
The Center explained that the "Birds without Borders" campaign was conducted during the project, which included the entire local community through various activities.
"We hope that raising awareness in both countries, as well as work on improving legislation, will affect the prevention of the decline in the number of birds along the Adriatic migratory corridor, and lead to the establishment of a new tourist product - bird watching," the Center concluded.
