The flu is spreading in Bar and Kotor

The general hospitals in Kotor and Bar are full of patients suffering from the flu, and in the last ten days cases of pneumonia have also been recorded.

The Institute for Public Health (IJZ) claims that, by looking at the electronic registry of cases of acute respiratory infections, no epidemic of viral pneumonia has been registered in Montenegro, but rather sporadic cases of the disease that are common for this time of year.

In the Kotor hospital, six cases of viral pneumonia were registered in the last ten days, and one of the patients was referred to the Clinical Center of Montenegro for treatment a week ago due to complications, the director of that institution, Edita Starović, confirmed to "News".

Viral pneumonia, as explained by Starović, occurs as a complication of the flu, and doctors treat it with antibiotics.

The "Blažo Orlandić" hospital in Bar told "Vijesta" that last weekend, three patients with a diagnosis of pneumonia were referred to KCCG from the infectious and internal departments.

They said that two patients remained in the KC, and that one was returned to the Bar hospital for further treatment.

In the period from January 10 to yesterday, 11 patients with pneumonia were admitted to the internal department of the Bar hospital, and another four were admitted for infectious diseases.

Despite this, the hospital believes that this is a normal number for this time of year and that they cannot claim that viruses are the cause of the disease, until the findings arrive.

"Tamiflu" is not available in KCCG?

A well-informed source claims that in KCCG there is no medicine "tamiflu", which is given to patients in severe cases of flu, and "berodual" solution for inhaling people with lung diseases. The KCCG did not answer yesterday whether there is a shortage of these medicines and when they expect them.

For a long time, "Beradual" has not even been available in the state pharmacies of "Montefarma", from which "Vijesti" was informed that a new delivery is expected in five days.

168 patients with flu symptoms were registered this week

An increase in the number of registered cases has been noted, and this week 168 patients with flu symptoms were registered, the IJZ announced.

It is stated that the largest number of patients is between the ages of 25 and 64.

Twelve cases of influenza were laboratory confirmed in the period from January 10 to 19.

Laboratory confirmed cases of the disease are from the municipalities of Herceg Novi, Podgorica, Kotor, Danilovgrad, Cetinje, Bar, Nikšić and Pljevlja.

IZJ warned that citizens who are at increased risk of developing complications should be vaccinated and emphasized that the vaccine can be received at any time during the duration of the seasonal flu.
