Today, the "Oktoih" State Awards for 2014 were awarded in the villa "Gorica".

The highest Montenegrin award in the field of education and upbringing in 2014, according to the jury's decision, was awarded to "Petar I Petrović Njegoš" Gymnasium from Danilovgrad, Russian language teacher at Elementary School "Risto Ratković" from Bijelo Polje, Vera Joksimović and director of Elementary School "Pavle Rovinski" Marijana Papić from Podgorica.

The award was presented by the head of the Ministry of Education and the Minister of Science, Prof. Dr. Sanja Vlahović, with the presence of jury president Pavle Goranović.

"The winners of the Oktoih results award show that Montenegro has visionaries who, with their knowledge and work results, can tackle the challenges of the new era," said Vlahović.

Vlahović said that Oktoich is a symbol of Montenegrin peaceful times.

"The era when we poured letters instead of bullets, the era when we responded to shouting and fighting by printing books. That is certainly a true, great symbol and expression of the culture, tradition and heritage of our people," Vlahović said.

She added that the winners of Oktoih deserved this prestigious recognition and that their work and results show that Montenegro has visionaries who can tackle the challenges of the new era with their knowledge and results.

Explaining the jury's decision, Pavle Goranović said that 11 proposals were submitted to the competition, five for institutions and six for individuals.

"During her 32 years of work in education, Vera Joksimović has proven herself by obtaining advanced degrees, professional qualities and enviable skills in training young generations," Goranović said.

Speaking about Papić, he said that she connected high-quality organization, dedication to work and leadership ability with the necessity of constant professional development and an enterprising spirit.

"He stands out by encouraging the implementation of new ideas and improving the work of the school he heads, by excellent communication with parents, non-governmental organizations, international partners and everyone who can help the progress of the school," said Goranović.

Explaining the jury's decision to award the prize to the Gymnasium "Petar I Petrović Njegoš" from Danilovgrad, Goranović said that this institution, over four decades of work, managed to preserve its uniqueness and to support and recognize the innovation and importance of reform processes.

"The school has produced a large number of today's respected and established personalities in various social fields. Year after year, the number of people interested in enrolling in the Danilovgrad high school, which is adorned by a healthy and pedagogically mature team, as well as students who stand out in national competitions and in the crowd, increases extracurricular activities," said Goranović.
