Bojan Bekan, the elected doctor at the Health Center, claims that after the holidays there was no increase in the number of people with colds, but that patients with respiratory infections still came to the clinics.

Bekan told "Vijesta" that in the last days of 2014, there was a crowd at the Health Center, because the weather had an effect on the fact that fellow citizens had a temperature of up to 38 degrees, a runny nose, a dry cough and felt a "scratch" in the throat.

He said that these are not symptoms of the seasonal flu and that there is no need to prescribe antibiotics for a common cold, but that it is generally advised to consume teas and broths, and in the case of a nasal infection, inhale warm liquids.

"Chicken soup has proven to work as a cough syrup," Bekan pointed out, adding that after the holidays and overeating, it is also advisable to eat fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

The doctor emphasized that when patients have a temperature over 38 degrees, he prescribes antipyretics, fever pills such as "febricet", as well as analgesics.

To prevent colds, he believes, the most important thing is maintaining personal hygiene, washing and washing hands, as well as layering clothing, so that the body does not experience sudden overheating and cooling due to sudden changes in air temperature.

Bekan said that those who are exposed to greater effort and energy expenditure can additionally consume artificial vitamins and minerals.

The call center received over 1.000 calls in just nine hours

Citizens who called the Health Center yesterday at the call center number claimed that they could not get operators for more than half an hour due to busy lines.

The Director of the Health Center, Nebojša Kavarić, explained that two operators, medical workers, work in the call center before and after noon.

Yesterday, from 7 am to 16 pm, there were over 1000 calls to the call center, he claims.

Podgorica Health Center, the only one of all health institutions in Montenegro, has a call center, through which citizens can get useful advice, information about procedures, appointments and examinations with selected doctors.

Kavarić appeals to citizens to be concise and ask specific questions when they ask questions to operators.

He pointed out that they also plan to operate a call center on weekends, as well as introducing a voice machine that will be useful when citizens need information about scheduling examinations.
