The endowment of Nikola Musić on Belavista Square, which was left to the Savina monastery for the education of monks, dilapidated, with a collapsed roof and a "gut", is crying out for reconstruction.
The Montenegrin and Littoral Metropolitanate announces the start of the works at the end of winter.
The building was destroyed in an earthquake in 1979, and three years ago part of the roof, which was prone to falling, was removed, so only four walls remained of the impressive building.
Eleven years ago, on the initiative of Metropolitan Amfilohi, a meeting was held with representatives of the local administration in the Savina monastery, and it was then agreed to start an action to restore the building in Belavista. It was agreed that the renovation project of the building should be done immediately and its purpose defined as soon as possible.
As neither the Municipality nor the church community at that time had the necessary funds for the rehabilitation of the building, it was agreed that the money would be collected on the basis of voluntary donations, foundations and common interests. It was mentioned that the Serbian businessman Miroslav Mišković was also interested in renovating the endowment building, and in return to receive a long-term lease of land in Luštica. Such an agreement was never implemented.
A year and a half ago, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia was also interested in renovating the building and placing the Serbian consulate in Herceg Novi there, but that idea was abandoned as well.
Discussions on the renewal of the Musić endowment were held at the end of last year between representatives of the Metropolitan Municipality and the local administration. Then it was announced that the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Kotor had submitted a request for the issuance of conservation conditions, and the Municipality agreed to finance the clearing of the object.
