The Chinese government donated 1,4 million euros to the municipality of Kotor for the installation of modern solar public lighting, said Budimir Cupara, advisor for maintenance and construction of electrical installations in the Directorate for Arrangement and Construction of Kotor.
He explained that modern solar public lighting will be installed in several locations in Kotor and Cetinje and that the total value of the project is 3,6 million euros.
Cupara told the MINA agency that the realization of the project is expected next year.
"Solar-powered lighting will be installed near the Veljko Drobnjaković Elementary School in Risno, in the Sveta Vrača neighborhood in Dobrota and next to the National Hero Savo Ilić Elementary School, near the High School and Maritime High School, in Radanovići, Bigova and Lastva Grbaljska." specified Cupara.
He said that the Chinese delegation will be in Kotor on Monday when they will discuss the finalization of the project.
Cupara explained that the basic principle of operation of solar lighting implies that the photovoltaic FN module located at the top of the pole converts solar radiation into electrical energy that is accumulated in batteries.
"What is important for this type of lighting is that there is no need to dig up streets and lay electrical cables. Installation and maintenance are simple, and the street lighting is not endangered during a voltage drop or blackout," he said.
