The Student Parliament of the University of Montenegro (UCG) will address the University's bodies, the line ministry and all relevant institutions as soon as possible, with requests to improve study conditions and the quality of teaching.
As announced after the extraordinary session of the Assembly of the Student Parliament of UCG, the Student Parliament of UCG, as an umbrella organization of all students of UCG, actively advocated for solving the problems faced by students at all university units.
"Student councils should inform the Student Parliament as an umbrella organization about all the problems their colleagues have, if these problems cannot be solved at the level of university units", announced the President of the Student Parliament of UCG, Miloš Pavićević.
According to him, after the official address to the Student Parliament, the Assembly of the Student Parliament adopts the conclusion and guidelines for action towards the competent bodies of the University, the line ministry and competent institutions in the field of higher education.
"The Assembly of the Student Parliament should be informed about the problems, requests and initiatives of the student councils in order to provide them with support, because independent appearances in the media and in front of the rest of the public cannot receive support if they have not gone through the regular procedure and if they have not been previously discussed at regular sessions," said Pavićević.
As he said, the statements in the media by some members of the Student Council of the Faculty of Philosophy that the Student Parliament of UCG did not support the public class that was held last week are not true.
"The student parliament supports the demands of the students, and the support of the Assembly, in which there are representatives of 20 faculties, cannot be provided unless the issue is raised at the session," added Pavićević.
He emphasized that at the regular session of the UCG Student Parliament Assembly, held on November 24, one of the three representatives of the Faculty of Philosophy was present, and he did not present any request, proposal or problem of his colleagues.
Just two days after that, he added, there was a public class at the Faculty of Philosophy where all the problems they were introduced to for the first time were presented.
"Also, at today's extraordinary session where the situation at UCG was considered, with a special focus on the Faculty of Economics and Philosophy, no one was present in front of the students of the Faculty of Philosophy, and the Student Parliament of UCG did not receive any official address from the student council of that university unit," it says. in the statement.
The goal and mission of the UCG Student Parliament, Pavićević stated, is to solve problems and all requests that students send to the student councils through the student trustees, who are then obliged to inform the Student Parliament. "It will be the same in the future."
"Based on the presentation of the representatives of the students of the Faculty of Economics in the Student Parliament of UCG, a decision was made that the Student Parliament of UCG, as before, supports the demands presented by the student trustee on November 25, which will be discussed at a meeting with the administration of UCG and assess the possibility for their realization", said Pavićević.
The representatives of the Faculty of Economics, he added, expressed an objection regarding not receiving all the necessary information from the representatives of the Student Parliament in the Management Board of UCG during the vote on the dismissal of the former dean and the appointment of Maja Baćović as acting dean of the Faculty of Economics.
"Despite the request of the representative of the Faculty of Economics that the representative of the Student Parliament of UCG temporarily refrain from voting on all points that do not directly concern students, it was decided that it is still in the interest of the student councils of all university units to make remarks through their representative and give him information that will help him when making future decisions," said Pavićević.
According to his words, it was decided that the representative of the UCG Student Parliament in the UCG Management Board at the first following session demands an urgent resolution of the current situation at the Faculty of Economics and the announcement of elections for the dean, while respecting the prescribed procedures.
"Also, the Student Parliament of UCG expresses a sharp protest due to the inappropriate qualifications pronounced by Baćović at the expense of the students, as well as the violation of Art. 101 and Art. 118 of the UCG Statute, which guarantees the right of students to freedom of peaceful assembly," announced Pavićević.
As he added, the remark of the student representative of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education that the performance in the hall of the faculty had inappropriate content and was an insult to the students of that university unit and professors of that faculty was accepted.
"The Assembly of the Student Parliament supports the Executive Committee of the Student Parliament, led by the president of the Student Union of Youth and Sports and the UCG commissioner, to discuss and adopt guidelines for solving the problems faced by students at separate meetings with the University administration and the student councils of the Faculty of Economics and Philosophy. faculty", said Pavićević.
The Student Parliament, he added, also initiated the scheduling of the mentioned meetings as a model that should contribute to resolving the current situation at an academic level befitting an institution of higher education. "The management of UCG responded to our request in the shortest possible time and scheduled a meeting".
"By initiating these meetings, the Student Parliament of UCG has shown its commitment to the institutional way of realizing rights and demands, and at the meeting that will be organized on Tuesday, December 2, it will act as the initiator and organizer of the meeting," said Pavićević.
As he said, the Student Parliament of the UCG will, as soon as possible, address the bodies of the UCG, the relevant ministry and all competent institutions with requests that support the improvement of study conditions and the quality of teaching.
As announced, a request will be sent for the submission of information on the deadline for the completion of works on the Student Sports Hall in Podgorica, the start of the construction of the Student Dormitory in Nikšić and the completion of works on the building near the Technical Faculty in Podgorica, which will house three faculties, additional investments in student dormitories.
"Remarks and comments on the recently adopted Law on Higher Education will be submitted to the Ministry of Education, and the inclusion of representatives of the UCG Student Parliament in the drafting of the new UCG Statute will be requested," the statement said.
