The Council of the Faculty of Economics made a decision on the temporary withdrawal of the representatives of the Faculty of Economics in the organs and working bodies of the UCG, pending the election of the Dean of the Faculty of Economics.
As stated in the conclusions published after the session, the Council of the Faculty of Economics will consider accepting the rector's initiative to discuss current problems, after receiving answers to the Council's conclusions.
The Council of the Faculty of Economics, with one abstention, zacts and "invalidation of all illegally passed acts and decisions by the Management Board and other bodies of the UCG".
They demand that the responsibility of the administration of the University of Montenegro be established for non-compliance with the UCG Statute and attempts to destabilize and cause a crisis at the Faculty of Economics, and thus at the University of Montenegro.
They also demand an urgent decision to initiate the procedure for the selection of a dean at the Faculty of Economics, no later than Friday, November 28, because the problems that have arisen cannot be solved under the existing conditions of the "VD state".
"That, in accordance with the UCG Statute (Article 24, paragraph 2), a vice-rector in the field of social sciences should be elected immediately. Urgent initiation of the procedure for amending the UCG Statute, in accordance with the Law on Higher Education. To carry out deaccumulation of functions at the UCG (for example, the President of the UCG Board of Directors, in addition to that function, in the last two years also performed the duties of a member of the Senate, a member of the Council for Higher Education and, until recently, the position of dean)," the announcement states.
The Council also condemns the distribution of disinformation in the public and the attempt to discredit a number of professors, "which is continuously done by representatives of the UCG administration, contrary to the law".
Rector of the University of Montenegro (UCG), Radmila Vojvodić, announced that it is confusing "to say the least, that those who break the law do not even want the offered dialogue, but issue ultimatums".
"However, the fact that the Council of the Faculty of Economics, headed by Acting Dean Prof. Majo Baćović, has returned to the institutional framework is encouraging," Vojvodić concluded.
Vojvodić invited for a conversation
The rector of the University of Montenegro (UCG), Radmila Vojvodić, invited the representatives of the Faculty of Economics to discuss the controversial issues in an open and constructive discussion.
Vojvodić, in a letter addressed to the acting dean of the Faculty of Economics, Maja Baćović, said that in accordance with the university principles she represents, as well as the conclusion reached at the special session of the Senate held on November 21, she is in the mood for dialogue on all issues that appear to be disputed.
"Affirming the conversation and problem solving in an open and constructive discussion within the university bodies, I suggest that at today's Council you decide on the representatives of the Faculty of Economics, and that in addition to the Rector and Vice-Rector, you consider the possibility of the presence of members of the Senate, representatives of the Board of Directors of the University of Montenegro, representatives students, i.e. the Union", the letter states.
Vojvodić said that she expects a proposal and agreement on terms.
The Management Board of UCG dismissed the duties of the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Milivoje Radović, due to, as they explained, exceeding his authority and the excessive number of enrolled students at that university unit.
After that, professors and students from that university unit held several public classes and supported the dismissed dean, and all members of the administration of the Faculty of Economics resigned, due to disagreement with the decision of the UCG.
The collective of the Faculty of Economics requested an immediate replacement of the University management and a change in the Statute in order to ensure greater independence of the faculty within that institution.
Radović said that everything he did in the previous period was for the Faculty of Economics and its students.
