The NGO Euromost states that the cases that happened in the General Hospital in Bijelo Polje are not the only ones, and that there were cases before, but they were covered up.
In the press release of that NGO, which is signed by the coordinator Senada Mekić, it is stated that, when it comes to hygiene, the Bjelo Polje sanitary inspection is partly to blame, which, as they state, "well informed about hygiene and condition in General hospital and in other such institutions".
Euromost calls on the police and the prosecutor's office to get involved, because they believe that everything should not end "only on responsibility".
"Obviously, crimes have been committed against people's health, and these and all previous cases that happened in this department must be investigated. According to today's comments from the people of Bjelopolje, there were a lot of them," the Euromost announcement states.
The closure of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department in Bijelo Polje and the whole case, as they say, created panic among those women in labor who are due to give birth these days.
"We hope that it is now clear to everyone that the women protested with the right, in front of the Assembly of Montenegro, where they pointed out the catastrophic situation in the slums in Montenegro," says Mekić.
One baby, who was urgently transferred from Bijelo Polje to the Clinical Center of Montenegro, due to an infection that she apparently contracted in the hospital after birth, died last night. Three babies who were hospitalized earlier are in a stable state of health, while doctors are fighting for the life of one baby.
