A group of citizens from four local communities in the municipality of Beran, who oppose the construction of a landfill in Rujišta, will deliver a petition to the representative of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Podgorica on Monday, demanding compliance with the law.
In the announcement of the Committee of the Citizens' Group, it is stated that the president of the municipality of Berane, Dragoslav Šćekić, misused the visit of Albert Kamarata from the EU Delegation to that municipality.
"That Šćekić and his and Vuka Golubović's right hand, Rita Barjaktarević, continue to show force and continue to mislead the public is also shown by the statement of the Government Bureau for Public Relations, where they deny that the Government gave any consent to the Rujišta site being disposed of waste," the statement said.
It is stated that the abuse of Kamarata's visit is also, as they said, false information given to the representative of the EU Delegation, which was immediately denied by the Government.
According to the Committee, his visit was used and precisely planned the night before the session of the local parliament "and the point Rujište was hastily put".
As it was announced, Šćekić's intention was to, in coordination with the media and the local parliament, take advantage of the visit and forcibly, without any consents, building permits and expert opinions, start the disposal of waste.
"And in that way he deliberately provoked the conflict of the citizens. The government made it clear, through its announcement, what is the obligation of the municipality of Berana, which, given all the circumstances, plans to bypass all of this, announcing the start of the postponement until the end of the month," it is added in announcement.
The committee of the group of citizens announced that they will not allow lawlessness and told Šćekić not to underestimate them and that, as they stated, they will be responsible if any life is endangered.
The Committee decided to visit the EU Delegation in Podgorica on Monday, and inform Kamarat "about the whole situation and the attempt to misuse his visit by Šćekić".
At the same time, as they announced, they will submit to him a petition from the citizens of four villages, which demands that the law be respected, and ask him to answer whether he thinks that it should be done in accordance with the law.
"We call on the primary prosecutor in Berane to act on our criminal report that we forwarded. In the event that someone tries to cover up illegal construction in Rujište, they will face a criminal report regardless of who it is, because the prosecutor's office immediately acted on our criminal report , Šćekić should no longer deal with illegalities in the municipality of Berane," the statement says.
The Committee asked why the mayor and Barjaktarević did not invite the representatives of the villages who oppose the construction of the temporary landfill in Rujište to the meeting they organized on the occasion of the visit of the EU delegation, and why they were afraid that Kamarata would hear their voices.
"It is interesting that only the representatives of Beransel were invited to that meeting, and not our representatives. We are citizens of Beran and we fight like them for the life and health of the citizens," said the Committee and asked Šćekić why he discriminates against them.
