The competition for the newly established award for contribution to professional journalism by Miodrag Vukmanović received 71 original journalistic works from 47 different authors that meet the requirements, the Media Council for Self-Regulation (MSS) announced.
As the self-regulatory body said, the competition ended with an impressive response and application from journalists and their newsrooms from all countries of the Western Balkans, and the prize will be awarded for the first time at the Podgorica Journalist Forum on November 14.
"Until November 1, a total of 71 original journalistic works from 47 different authors were received, which meet the conditions of the competition and which enter the equal competition for the selection of the best work", says the MSS announcement. According to them, apart from the impressive number of applications, the quality of the competition is also evidenced by the fact that the most credible journalistic names from almost all the former Yugoslav republics are among the applicants.
"These data are the best evidence of the reputation and credibility of the MSS, which organizes this year's Forum, among the journalistic profession," the announcement states.
A nine-member international jury, which includes respectable journalistic names from five countries of the region, will select the best journalistic work and award the first laureate on November 14, at the end of the two-day conference, whose theme this year is In Search of Lost Professionalism. "RTCG - Montenegro, Vijesti - Montenegro, Portal Analitika - Montenegro, RT Kosovo, RatkoFemić - AL Jazeera Balkans, E-novine - Serbia, Politika - Serbia, RTS - Serbia, Radio Skopje - Macedonia, RTV Vojvodina - Serbia, Pobjeda - Montenegro, Produkcija Arhitel - Serbia", the statement added.
Among the candidates for the award are SanelKajan - Al Jazeera Balkans, TV Happy - Serbia, TV Slovenia - Slovenia, Danas - Serbia, News Agency Rakurs - Serbia, Fokus - Macedonia, TV Sky Plus - Serbia, Vreme - Serbia, Andrej Nikolaidis - AL Jazeera Balkans.
