Montenegrin mobile operators, by all accounts, are not enthusiastic about the announcement of the regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications (EKIP) that from next year roaming will be abolished for several countries in the region, so to simple questions about whether they will accept it and how much it will cost them, they answer with the general story that it will it has yet to be the subject of discussion and by advertising an already existing offer.

In Telenor, it seems, they are only thinking about reducing the price, but not canceling roaming.

"All regulators and operators, who are invited to sign the Agreement on Voluntary Price Adjustment, will assess the need to accede to the agreement in accordance with business, economic and national interests," Crnogorski Telekom says.

Crnogorski Telekom says that there have been no discussions on that topic yet.

"The Agency for Electronic Communications gave us a proposal for an agreement on the reduction of roaming prices, starting from the second half of 2015. This agreement refers to 12 countries of the region and proposes price regulation in the next three-year period. All regulators and operators, who are invited to sign the Agreement on Voluntary Price Adjustment, will assess the need to accede to the agreement in accordance with business, economic and national interests," Telekom said in response to the same questions.

They remind that roaming services are only a part of mobile communication services and are determined on market basis, like other prices in that market.

"When it comes to roaming, we emphasize that Telekom has the 'My World' service, which enables free incoming calls from all networks in Montenegro, in 17 countries, and unique prices for outgoing calls and SMS," says the largest operator of telecommunications services. in Montenegro.

M:tel will stop roaming if the others do the same

And in M:tel they claim that so far there has been no discussion on this topic with the relevant Ministry for Information Society and the Agency. They are somewhat more eloquent than their competitors, so they say that they will abolish roaming if the others do the same.

"After the discussions and specified conditions on the abolition of roaming, we will adopt a final position. What we can say for now is that we are always willing to cooperate, to create a better environment for our users, and even to abolish roaming in the region, if it is a mutual agreement. With Serbia, we have already provided our users with services without roaming", they say in M:tel, adding that analyzes are being made as to how much this would reduce the company's revenues.

The abolition of roaming was announced by the director of the Electronic Communications Agency of Montenegro (EKIP), Zoran Sekulić. He explained that the goal of the regulatory bodies in the region is to completely abolish roaming charges and that the obstacle to this will probably be the operators for whom this will mean a decrease in income.

Roaming will be abolished in the European Union by the end of next year, and European Commissioner for Digital Development Nellie Cross said that this will not reduce the profit of operators because people will use the phone more than before when roaming was very expensive.
