The Minister of Science, Dr. Sanja Damjanović, and the Director of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, Dr. Jevto Eraković, officially opened the Meeting of the Southeastern Europe Network for Radiology and Oncology, organized by the Clinical Center, in cooperation with the Ministry of Science, on September 7 and 8, 2018, in Podgorica.

The topic of the meeting, attended by the directors of oncology centers from the countries of the Region, is the formation of a network of radiologists and oncologists, which represents one of the stages in the further development of the project of the International Institute for Sustainable Technologies in Southeastern Europe, that is, Hadron cancer therapy with biomedical research. This means that one patient will be seen simultaneously by oncologists from different parts of Europe.

The Director of the Clinical Center, Dr. Jevto Eraković, in his introductory presentation, spoke about the Telemedicine project, which was launched this year, and which electronically connects the largest medical institution, of which he is the head, with other health institutions in the country.

"All state institutions are obliged to support such a project, and as soon as the opportunity arose for the Clinical Center to provide support, we did not hesitate. We are glad that our oncologists have the opportunity to exchange experiences with leading experts and colleagues from Southeast Europe, because the ultimate goal of this meeting is to form an oncology network of Southeast Europe, and we would like the headquarters to be in the Clinical Center," said the director of KCCG, Dr. Eraković.

The Minister of Science presented the SEEIIST project to the participants and introduced them to the next phase, which entails the formation of a clinical network, which will enable radiologists and oncologists throughout the Region to connect with each other, establish contacts with colleagues at the Institute, as well as other renowned European centers and hospitals.

"This is not only connecting the oncologists of the region, but the goal is to strengthen the infrastructure, because it is important to connect oncological institutions, not only with this institute, but also with European oncological institutions", pointed out Damjanović and said that the Ministry of Science recently applied for funds in the amount of 2 million euros and the concept of the "Western Balkan Network for Radiology and Oncology" was nominated as part of the Multi-beneficiary MB IPA 2019.
