The instruments, which were installed by the NGO "Green Home" on a house near the Thermal Power Plant in March, registered an increased presence of PM10 particles in the air in the last few days, up to six times more than allowed.
The project coordinator in "Green Home" Diana Milev Čavor says that on Friday, after the TE was put into operation after a short stoppage, an hourly concentration of 292 micrograms per cubic meter was measured, which is almost six times more than the permitted 50 micrograms per cubic meter . At the same time, she points out, the instruments of the Institute of Ecotoxicology, which were installed in the Gagovića estate not far from the city center, registered a concentration of PM 10 particles of 30 micrograms.
Milev Čavor also claims that the value of PM 10 particles in the vicinity of the Thermal Power Plant during the first days of September did not drop below 150 micrograms per cubic meter throughout the day.
She states that the instruments they use have been rated as reliable by experts from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
"The measured values show the impact of the operation of the Thermal Power Plant on the environment," said Milev Čavor.
She said that this NGO had installed another measuring instrument in the city center, but that due to technical problems it was not possible to read the values of harmful substances from it.
Civic activist Kemal Pajević says that it is difficult to accept the data of the city measuring station, when every day citizens notice with the naked eye the presence of powdery substances in the air, on balconies, windows, cars...
"The Environmental Protection Agency should check the correctness of the measuring devices at the measuring station in Pljevlja, especially after the presentation of the data from the 'Green Home' measuring device. Of course, it is necessary to determine how reliable the instruments of this organization are", believes Pajević.
