The traditional manifestation Days of the Diaspora in Petnjica was held today for the first time since the status of a municipality was restored to this town.
The event was officially opened by the mayor of the municipality, Samir Agović, who said that he was glad that people from this region who live and work abroad are increasingly returning to their homeland.
"Next year will be the year of major investments in the area of Bihor. It is a good signal for our diaspora, which will provide selfless help in order to realize capital projects. An office for working with the diaspora will be opened at the local administration," said Agović.
He added that a lot is expected from the newly formed municipality, but that it should be known that there are complex processes involved "because it is practically starting from scratch".
"That's why we have difficulties that accompany every beginning. But this region has natural and human potentials, and it is necessary that we all give our best together in order to put these potentials into the function of development," said Agović.
The director of the Diaspora Administration, Predrag Mitrović, also addressed the numerous visitors, who emphasized that the diaspora from the area of Bihor made an immeasurable contribution to the development of democratic processes and the restoration of Montenegrin statehood.
DPS deputy Rešid Adrović also spoke, as well as representatives of native clubs from the diaspora Esko Halilović, Rahim Agović and Ismet Ramčilović.
At today's Diaspora Days event in Petnjica, you could see a large number of young people who came to their homeland from Western European countries and who did not hide their willingness to help Petnjica, stressing that they expect help from state authorities at the same time.
That's how the idea of forming a fund to help Petnjica was heard in Luxembourg, where the diaspora from this region is the most numerous.
