Montenegro is stable when it comes to the fight against human trafficking, said the national coordinator for that area, Zoran Ulama, stating that this is the result of the coordinated activities of state institutions, careful research into the causes of this phenomenon and their prevention.
The Government Office for Combating Human Trafficking and the Police Directorate organized a thematic meeting today in Budva with police officers from the countries of the region engaged as assistance on the Montenegrin coast during the summer tourist season, on the topic of combating human trafficking.
At the meeting, it was stated that during the summer tourist season, the risks of the occurrence of negative social phenomena, such as, among other things, human trafficking, are increased.
As announced by the Office for Combating Human Trafficking, one of the objectives of the meeting was to preserve the image of Montenegro as a safe and desirable tourist destination.
"The national coordinator for the fight against human trafficking, Zoran Ulama, assessed that the fact that Montenegro is stable when it comes to this issue is the result of the coordinated activities of state institutions, careful research into all the causes of the emergence of this phenomenon and their timely prevention," it is said in announcement.
He particularly emphasized the importance of regional and international cooperation in the fight against all forms of organized crime, including human trafficking.
The participants of the meeting were introduced to the mechanisms and strategic priorities of the Government when it comes to this issue and the importance of proactive identification of potential and victims of human trafficking.
Operational actions of the Police Administration on the subject plan called "Trafficking" and Beggar" were also presented.
