In Rijeka Crnojevića, as part of the "Balkan Bridges Speak" program, organized by the Capital of Cetinje, UNESCO and the "Balkanika" Foundation, the event "The Old Bridge Speaks" was held last night. The meeting in Rijeka Crnojević was the central event during the Cetinje household program "Balkan Bridges Speak", and was attended by a large number of dignitaries and visitors.
During the event, the attendees were greeted by the Mayor of the Capital City of Cetinje, Aleksandar Bogdanović, and the General Director of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, after which a 3D projection was held on the old bridge.
At the end of the evening, a concert was organized, in which several folklore ensembles from the countries of the region performed.
Welcoming the guests, Bogdanović said "it is nice to be in the old Montenegrin capital and in front of one of the most picturesque bridges which is a witness to numerous sequences of the Montenegrin past".
"The bridge in Rijeka Crnojevića, built way back in 1853, truly unites the Balkan peoples, and thus the cultures, which is the fundamental goal of the program "Balkan Bridges Speak. Because cultural heritage is the true wealth of the climate of Southeast Europe, and united, we will certainly be easier and more effective influence not only the protection, but also the affirmation of the cultural heritage at our disposal," said Bogdanović.
He has no doubt that a gathering like this will contribute to the affirmation of the Rijekakop bridge itself, as a building that is not only a symbol of Rijeka Crnojević and Cetinje, but also of the whole of Montenegro".
In Rijeka Crnojevića, Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova also spoke, who emphasized her satisfaction that Cetinje and Rijeka Crnojevića are hosting the conference "The Bridges of the Balkans Speak".
"I am quite sure that tonight I can say that this is a magical moment in a magical place. I believe that this structure, for which Rijeka Crnojevića and Cetinje are known, expresses the values we share, which say that the culture of each nation is unique, but also that, as such, deeply rooted in a unique, shared global history. Culture and heritage represent an exceptional value of the past, but at the same time they also help us to send messages for the future, just as we are doing here tonight," said Bokova.
The program in Rijeka continued in a symbolic way - by presenting the culture of different Balkan peoples, which, along with the promotion of unity and preservation of cultural heritage, is one of the key ideas of the "Balkan Bridges Speak" program.
On that occasion, several folklore groups from the countries of the region performed on the stage on the promenade in Rijeka Crnojevića, and Montenegro was represented by the Cultural and artistic society "Njegoš" from Cetinje.
In the final part of the program, there was a 3D mapping projection, which met with the enthusiasm of numerous visitors.
Motifs from the Montenegrin past alternated on the surface of the old bridge in Rijeka Crnojevića, whereby the object's contours constantly "disappeared" and "appeared" again2.
It was the second 3D mapping projection in the area of the Capital Cetinje during the last two years.
