The Council of the Agency for the Protection of Personal Data issued a decision ordering the Montenegrin Commercial Bank (CKB) to change the way it compiles giro account numbers within four months.
"This means that CKB will have to change all giro accounts of existing users, taking care not to create new ones using their identity number", confirmed in a statement to "Vijesti", a member of the Council of the Agency, Radenko Lacmanović.
"The Council has once again stated that it is about data processing on a larger scale than necessary, which is not in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act," said Lacmanović.
He points out that the Council of the Agency unanimously assessed that it cannot be a question of the consent of the person when signing the contract, as the bank claimed during the inspection:
"Personal data must be processed in a fair and legal manner or with the consent of the person whose personal information is used, but not on a larger scale. However, we have assessed that this case is not about fair data processing, because the person's consent was forced or imposed".
