Herceg Novi: They cleaned the green areas around the Forte Mare fortress

The Municipal Housing Company of Herceg-Novi organized today an action to clean the green areas around the Forte Mare fortress.

This is a preventive action to remove diseased and damaged trees that were a threat to passers-by on the Pet Danica Promenade, but also threatened the walls of the fortress.

The workers of Zelenil, among other things, removed a 15-meter-tall melia tree, better known as the stink bug, which, as they explained, has no horticultural value.

The plan is also to clean the walls of the fortress.

The Forte Mare fortress or sea fortress was built in the period between the 14th and 17th centuries. century, restored in 1833, and since 1952 it has been adapted into a summer cinema.

The fortress is built on solid rocks, above the promenade itself, and there is a door in the walls - a passage from the seashore to the top of the fortress.
