In 2014, the National Parks of Montenegro (NPCG) filed seven misdemeanor and one criminal charges for illegal fishing on Lake Skadar.

The NPCG announced that 15 illegal fishing tools were seized during that period and that game wardens of the "Skadasrko Lake" National Park will control the protected area more intensively during the fishing ban, which begins on March 15.

"Fishing ban in NP 'Skadarsko jezero', for all types of fish except eel, starts on March 15 and lasts until June 1. From the middle of March to the beginning of June, anglers are not allowed to fish because of the spawning season. In this regard, in order to protect the fish stock, the protection service of NP 'Skadarsko jezero' will more intensively control the use of the park's assets", the NPCG announced.

They appealed to "environmentally aware and responsible" citizens to report all illegalities to the protection service of NP "Skadarsko jezero".

They pointed out that in the February Report on the work of the aforementioned national park, it is stated that "illegal fishing is intensively prevented in the entire water territory of the lake", and that fishing nets are constantly monitored and poaching is prevented.

The NPCG claims that six game wardens completed training at the Police Academy in Danilovgrad on Friday, to which they were sent after an administrative inspection determined that they were working without a license.

During last year's fishing ban, NPCG filed 16 criminal charges for poaching and seized 18 kilograms of illegally caught fish.

After these results, which were announced by the NPCG, the workers of the protection service of NP "Skadarsko jezero" reacted, pointing out that there were many more applications. An internal investigation was also conducted and it was determined that the NPCG data were correct, for which the administrative workers of NP "Skadarsko jezero" were subsequently punished.

They do not mention the cleaning of Old Vigan

Zoran Mrdak's department did not answer if and when they will clean the landfill in Stari Viganje, which, according to an earlier announcement by the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, is the responsibility of NPCG and utilities. Mrdak, in his statement to "Vijesti", and later in his response, referring to the Spatial Plan for Special Purpose Areas and the Law on National Parks, claimed that landfills are not inside the park.

The mentioned documents, however, unequivocally say that huge landfills are several hundred meters inside the park, which is also claimed by the forensic expert in the field of geology, Staniša Ivanović.

NPCG appeals to environmentally aware and responsible citizens to report illegal fishing, as well as all types of activities they consider inappropriate and illegal, to the Protection Service at phone numbers 067/344-356, 067/342-899.
