In the water area of the Port of Risan, an environmental incident occurred yesterday morning and an unspecified amount of old engine oil was spilled into the sea. The greasy stain was floating in part of the port's water area, and the team of the Maritime Safety Administration of Montenegro and the Port Authority of Kotor was engaged in its cleaning and removal immediately at the request of the citizens.
The special vessel EKO-1 of the Maritime Safety Administration surrounded the oil slick that was floating on the surface of the sea with a special floating dam in order to prevent its spread. oil from seawater and pump it into the tanks of his special vehicle that is engaged in such occasions.
On the spot in Risno are the navigation safety inspector of the Port Authority of Kotor Željko Lompar and the director of the maritime safety administration Safet Kočan.
Lompar told "Vijesta" that the investigation into the cause of this sea pollution is ongoing and that the aggravating circumstance is the fact that Risan Port has no tenant and its water area is not under the supervision of the guard service, but is available to everyone.
"It is most likely old motor oil that someone spilled into the sea. The possibility that the pollution came from the land, and not from a vessel in the port, is not excluded, that is, that some oil spilled into the channel of the atmospheric sewage through which it then got into the sea near the port in Risno," said Lompar.
