The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rejected the request of Miljan Milicković for the issuance of a permit to keep wild species of animals on the property in the village of Blizna, near Podgorica.
Milicković has been taking care of wild animals on his private estate for over 12 years, and he first asked for a permit to keep them in May of last year, after he came into the public eye after two brown bear cubs from Pusto Lisac ended up with him.
He then stated in the request that he was seeking permission for temporary care, so that, as he said earlier, in cooperation with the state, he could save them in the future or save the animals at least temporarily, until they are sent to specialized reserves. A year later, he asked the EPA for a permit to permanently keep animals, and stated in the request that he needed the consent in order to obtain a decision on the fulfillment of veterinary and sanitary conditions in facilities - zoos. According to the data of the Central Register of Business Entities, the company DOO Export-Import "Zoo Park" was registered in his name in April. Stating that he is out of the country, Milicković said yesterday that the answer to the question of "Vijesti" about the recent decision of the EPA, will reach the editorial office today from the "Anđelić-Dragović" law office.
In the decision of the EPA from August 7, it is stated that the owner of the property in the village of Blizna did not submit the documentation within the deadline. In October 2017, the EPA allowed Milicković to temporarily keep the animals, with the obligation to fulfill a set of conditions.
The Center for the Protection and Study of Birds requested the annulment of the decision, stating, among other things, that the origin of the animals had not been determined, except for two two-humped camels, which were purchased from an Italian circus. The CZIP previously said that wild animals on Milicković's property are used for commercial purposes, that the brown bear and fallow deer are animals that are threatened with extinction and whose trade is allowed in special cases.
The CZIP then asked the EPA to oblige Milicković to mark the wild species of animals he keeps on the property.
