On the city beaches of Podgorica, yesterday, as in the previous days, even though the temperatures were above 35 degrees Celsius, there was a small number of bathers.
"Vijesti" journalist visiting Galeb beach, Momišićka, Skaline, in Rogami on the banks of the Zeta, met only about fifteen citizens, who sought refuge from the heat on the banks of the rivers.
Among the rare fellow citizens was sixty-eight-year-old Božidar Ivanović, who said that he remembers when the city's beaches were full of people from Podgorica, when both young and old gathered on the banks of the rivers.
"As a child, I remember crowded beaches, events, when you went down to the shore with joy, there was no place for a towel on some beaches. And Podgorica today has twice as many inhabitants, but the beaches are deserted. As children, we used to know in September, after the lessons at school, that we would go down to Morača. Times are different today, people have changed, habits, priorities have changed. "Morača was always cold for swimming even on the hottest days, but it still has some flavor," said Ivanovic.
He says that because of the old times, he likes to go down to the river, and that the banks used to be much more organized and clean than now.
Sixteen-year-old Marko Šćepanović said that he likes to come to Morač, and that he would like to see more people.
"It's close, you're on the river bank in a few minutes from the city. This part near Skalin is also nicely decorated, maybe if the other beaches were decorated too, there would be more people," Šćepanović said.
He pointed out that it bothers him that a lot of garbage can be seen on the banks of rivers and that it is a habit that many fellow citizens have of dumping garbage wherever possible.
That the beaches on Morača are neglected by the citizens was confirmed by the capital city, which this year organized the event "Let's go to Morača" for the fourth year in a row.
The event, organized by the Tourist Organization of Podgorica and the Secretariat for Culture and Sports of the Capital City, began on July 27 and will last until August 26.
