The head of the UNICEF representative office for Montenegro Benjamin Perks, assistant minister of labor and social welfare Goran Kuševija and Montenegrin singer Sergej Ćetković will participate in the promotion of foster care as part of the campaign "Every child needs a family" in KIC "Budo Tomović", which takes place on 6 December at 11.00:XNUMX a.m.
Montenegrin singer Sergej Ćetković is the second celebrity to join this campaign and become its friend, after British actor Nicholas Lindhurst did so in October.
Sergej will meet with Montenegrin foster families on Friday morning and talk with them about their experiences, problems and possible ways to support them. After that, he will speak at a public event in KIC "Budo Tomović", where he will sing one of his hits for all foster parents in Montenegro.
"My message to all citizens of Montenegro is: let's provide a family, i.e. a happy and carefree childhood for each of our children. What could be more important than that?", is the message sent by the Montenegrin singer.
The event at KIC is open to all citizens who want to learn more about foster care and possibly become foster parents. On this occasion, they will be able to ask questions about foster care to the representative of the Podgorica Center for Social Work.
The Every Child Needs a Family campaign, launched in September 2013 by the Government of Montenegro, UNICEF and the EU, aims to increase the number of foster parents in the country and provide them with greater support in society by changing the opinion of 58% of citizens who believe that Placing children without parental care in institutions is a good solution.
Research carried out over the last fifty years shows that placing children in institutions exposes them to the risk of falling behind in psychological, emotional and physical development.
Ensuring that every child grows up in a warm family environment is necessary to ensure that every child develops to their full potential.
The campaign "Every child needs a family" is implemented within the project "Reform of the social and child protection system - social inclusion", which is implemented by the Government of Montenegro, with technical support from UNICEF and UNDP and financial support from the EU.
