The 150th anniversary of the existence of the Theological Seminary of St. Peter of Cetinje and the 200th anniversary of Njegoš's birth were marked with a ceremonial academy in the Church of the Resurrection in Podgorica.
"As a school and the Metropolis of Montenegro and the Littoral, we invited people from the Government of Montenegro to join in the celebration of the jubilee of the oldest Montenegrin high school. Even though it is Sunday, even though we are in the center of Podgorica, they do not have time. It seems that after the consecration of the temple it is too much to be again here. It's never much, but we don't get angry," said the rector of the seminary, archpriest Gojko Perović, in his welcome speech.
He pointed out that with the help of donors, the administrative building of the seminary was renovated during this year, that work was also done on the student boarding school in order to modernize the teaching and life at the school.
"The seminary was created at a time when in Europe there was a principle that education should be built away from the church. It was at that time that the church founded a school in Cetinje. Even today, when everything is full of similar stories, the church remains the basic engine of social healing and philanthropy." , Perovic said.
After the record of Perović, professor Predrag Vukić held a solemn speech.
In the presence of Metropolitan Amfilohi of the Montenegrin littoral, church dignitaries and numerous guests, the following was followed by a program performed by students of the seminary, their choir and recital, children from the Cetinje school of religious studies and the choir of St. apostle and evangelist Mark from Podgorica.
