Almost every sixth worker in Montenegro has some health problem, according to the latest data from MONSTAT in the Labor Force Survey in the last four months of last year.

Statistics show that 15,5 percent of employees, or about 65.000 people, have some health problem, while the other 84,5 stated that they have no such problems.

Women are more often exposed to health problems, so almost 17 percent of employees stated that they have health problems, in contrast to about 14 percent of men.

Health problems are most common among the population aged 50 to 64, where about 41.000 workers, or one in three workers, are ill. Women are again more represented with 38 percent, while 30 percent of men said they have problems.

In the population of 25 to 49 percent, one in ten workers said they had some health problem, while employees aged 15 to 24 years only said the same in 2,6 percent of cases.

Health problems are still the most common among the population with primary and lower education, who are also exposed to more difficult working conditions. Thus, every fifth respondent of that educational profile said that they have some problem, while the percentage of workers with health problems also decreases with increasing education.

The most common are heart diseases or diseases related to circulation and blood pressure, which almost 18.000 employees complain about.

The most common are heart diseases or diseases related to circulation and blood pressure, which almost 18.000 employees complain about. About 10.000 citizens said they had problems with their backs or necks, and about 7.300 workers said they had problems with their legs.

MONSTAT data showed that most of the problems are older than six months, as stated by more than 83 percent of the respondents. About 11 percent of employees said that the problems were caused by the work they do, and about 2,3 percent said that the health problem was caused by an injury at work.

About 66,7 percent of the respondents said that they work or would work reduced hours due to health problems, and almost 40 percent of the respondents said that they have problems coming to work due to health problems.
