Due to problems with the power grid, the residents of Vraneška Valley were without electricity for two and a half months in the last seven months.
The president of the Ministry of Health, Tomaše vo Vesko Gogić, said that after every breakdown, it takes at least 10 hours to repair it, and the electricity goes out every few days. "The population is worried about what they will do during the winter, when we are buried by snow, and when Elektrodistribucija workers will not be able to access the low-voltage network".
And that network, by the way, is worn out and is the most common cause of malfunctions. Many of the pillars are old and barely holding, and most of them are badly undermined. Here, people are afraid of rain, because as soon as it thunders, it necessarily means a power outage. And even without that, interruptions in power supply are very frequent," said Gogić.
Sonja Gogić, who occasionally stays in Tomaševo, said that it is difficult to describe what life is like in the Vraneška valley without electricity.
"At more than 30 degrees outside, we have to light the stoves and the worst thing is, we never know when it will disappear, nor when the electricity will come on. So the night before last she disappeared at 10 o'clock and came yesterday around 11 o'clock," said Gogić.
She points out that power outages cause major problems for household appliances, especially freezers.
"Yesterday, after the electricity came on, I was checking, everything in the freezer was half-thawed. The engines are screeching, and all the devices are weakening like this," she said.
Gogić mentioned that it is the most difficult for those engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry.
"My parents keep cows and have big problems with keeping all milk products," said Gogić.
