The June water quality analysis conducted by the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology showed that the water at two measuring points in Cijevna, Trgaje and above the mouth of Cijevna is of the second class.
Locals and numerous Podgorica residents sought salvation during the summer heat by swimming in the clear water of Cijevna, where there are many beaches, mostly improvised.
The Head of the Department for Water Quality at the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology, Nevenka Tomić, said that, according to the number of fecal bacteria, measuring points that should belong to the very demanding first class, among which the upper courses of rivers in the suburbs of cities, belonged to the second class.
The quality of Morača water at the measuring point on Zlatica, which should belong to the first class, according to the June analyses, is on the border between the first and second class.
"This year, we did not do the May series because of the higher water level and the rainy period, but the June sampling showed a similar situation as last year, the profile of Zlatica should belong to the first class, and according to fecal bacteria it was on the border between the first and the second," announced Tomić. .
Analyzes of Zeta water at Vidrovan and Duklovo Most also showed second-class quality.
Tomićeva adds that the water quality at the city beach Momišići also belongs to the second class, which is prescribed for it because it is located in the city.
"The most pollution comes from the inflow of municipal waste water from populated areas and industrial sources, various workshops, septic tanks, as well as illegal landfills, washing of roads and land in case of rains, especially large torrents," explains Tomić. Quality testing of Montenegrin rivers was carried out during June, and samples were taken from 36 measuring points. The next sampling is planned for the second half of July or the beginning of August.
According to Tomić, the results of the analysis of the samples taken from these rivers and Lake Skadar showed that the values of the physical and chemical parameters were within satisfactory limits, with the exception of the measuring point below the water inlet of the City Collector.
"The water was quite cold, the temperature did not exceed 18 degrees Celsius, which contributed, as well as the increased water level, to this satisfactory condition", stated Tomićeva, explaining that the water temperature was influenced by the inflow of tributaries, which have a significant amount of water, due to melting snow. which remained in the mountainous areas, also due to the rains that fell during June.
In comparison with last year's situation and with the mentioned factors, Tomićeva points out that the situation is similar.
"As we get more and more into summer, the pressures are higher in the environment, and the water levels are falling," Tomić said.
The quality changes, but for the most part it resists and remains, not in the excellent, but in the satisfactory class.
Swimming is not recommended in the Morača, Zeta and Skadar Lakes
The lower part of Morača, from the water inlet of the city collector downstream, and the part of Lake Skadar around Vranjina and Virpazar, as well as the part of Zeta around Duklovo bridge, based on long-term monitoring, are not locations where swimming is recommended.
Tomić notes that bathers should not bathe in cases where they notice unnatural color, stains, suspended particles or foam.
Due to the possibility of accidents, caution is recommended in the Morača area near the CRBC camps that have treatment plants, as well as near settlements.
The best condition in Plavnica, Pothum and Starčeva Gorica
The waters of Lake Skadar are of satisfactory quality.
The best condition of the waters of Lake Skadar was recorded in Plavnica, Pothum and Starčeva Gorica, while the water quality in the area of Virpazar turned out to be worse.
"The parameters remained in the prescribed second class, but they have slightly higher values than the other measuring points," announced Tomić.
