Yesterday, the director of NP "Skadarsko jezero" Goran Škatarić initiated disciplinary proceedings against the gamekeepers who let the poachers go ten days ago, as well as against the supervisor who made an official note about it.
One of the gamekeepers, Momir Bečanović, confirmed that disciplinary proceedings had been initiated against him, stressing that he worked according to regulations.
"I don't know what happened to him (the supervisor) and whether everything is fine with him, but I said earlier that the poachers ran away after we took their statements," Bečanović told "Vijesta".
His colleagues Zvonko Kukuličić and Milivoje Lukačević did not want to comment on the initiation of proceedings against them, and Škatarić did not answer the calls of "Vijesti".
The National Parks of Montenegro (NPCG) did not answer the questions of "Vijesti" yesterday, announcing that they would announce themselves.
Director Zoran Mrdak's department announced that "processing of the case in question" is underway.
In an official note, the supervisor accused the three game wardens of letting poachers caught hunting with electricity, justifying that they were the people of the director of "Montenegropetrol", Raj Šuškavčević. The poachers were caught on March 24, on the Gostiljska River, and Šuškavčević previously denied that they were his men.
According to unofficial information from "Vijesti", Kukuličić and Lukačević denied in their statements that they had let the poachers go, and one even wrote that they did not even find a generator, but a plastic crate.
The source of "Vijesti" claims that only the supervisor has a license to perform the duties of a gamekeeper, and that the remaining three in the patrol were practically illegal.
Lukačević previously confirmed to "Vijesta" that he was employed in environmental hygiene and that he was only driving a boat that night. He and several other people were hired recently, ahead of the upcoming elections.
A "Vijesti" source, who is well acquainted with the events at the lake, claims that Škataric initiated disciplinary proceedings against the gamekeeper under pressure from Mrdak, and against the supervisor on his own.
Škatarić became known to the general public after a rare black eagle named Bruzda was shot in the middle of the National Park. The eagle died in the yard of Škatarić's house, without medical assistance. Instead of a veterinarian, Škatarić called the police, suspecting that it was espionage, because of the tracking transmitter on the eagle's body.
Because of this, Mrdak initiated disciplinary proceedings against Škataric, but until yesterday the punishment had not been pronounced.
Skatarić is looking for a mole
A reliable source claims that Škatarić launched an internal investigation in the company with the desire to find out who provided "Vijesti" with the minutes of the incident on Gostiljska Rijeka.
It was confirmed by "Vijesti" that the employees wrote statements on that occasion and that it is possible to initiate disciplinary proceedings against those who are eventually found to be responsible for leaking information. A few days ago, right after the journalist took an interest in the events at Gostiljska Rijeka, Škatarić gathered all the employees trying to cover up the case.
