The Ministry of Agriculture is doing everything to prevent the spread of infectious Q fever (Q) in goats, sheep and cattle, which appeared in the territory of Bijelo Polje and Žabljak, said the head of that department, Petar Ivanović.
He stated that fever was registered on four farms, three in Bijelo Polje and one in Žabljak.

"We reacted on time and quickly identified problems in those municipalities. This fever can appear in people if preventive measures are not taken, which we have already done," Ivanovic said at the press conference.
He added that the fever occurred more often in the region than in Montenegro, and clarified that it is a disease of domestic animals where the main source of infection is in fertile material.
According to Ivanovic, the ministry immediately marked sick animals whose movement was restricted upon the appearance of fever, and disinfected and exterminated the buildings.
"All this was done to prevent the spread of the fever. At this moment, we are not talking about an epidemic or a bigger problem, we are trying to do everything to prevent a bigger problem from happening," he said.
Ivanovic reminded that the public was immediately aware of the problem, due to precautionary measures.
"We have taken measures of increased surveillance to prevent the disease from spreading, and veterinary inspections are doing their job," he said.
