In the regular control of the hunting grounds from Virpazar to Ostros, the game wardens of the Bar company "Lovstvo" found and removed several steel nooses - traps from the ground, and improvised observation posts from the treetops.
The executive director of "Lovstva" Mladen Đuričić told "Vijesta" that poachers use nooses and picks primarily for illegal hunting of wild pigs, "and often other wild or domestic animals also fall into the traps".
"The Act on game and hunting clearly states that such actions are followed by a fine of 200 to 800 euros. Our hunting service takes measures to find and severely punish the perpetrators of these violations, and poachers are also threatened with strict punitive measures under the jurisdiction of the MUP on the basis of illegal carrying of weapons during hunting."
The law attributes fines to persons who hunt game with poison, nooses, jaw-shaped traps and others, snares, irons, nets or electrical devices. The hunting of wild game in the period of high pregnancy or while the females are carrying young is also sanctioned, if caught or found dead game or its parts or a game trophy for which no accompanying card or trophy list has been issued is taken out of the hunting grounds and put into circulation, and in addition to a fine, a protective measure of confiscation of items used or intended for the commission of these offenses is also imposed.
