Both young and old come to Veruša, some stay only for the weekend, and there are people who spend the whole summer in the fresh mountain air.
During the hot summer, many come to enjoy the enchanting landscapes, forest fruits and shade, which is impossible to find on the hot Podgorica asphalt.
In the children's resort, located about 50 kilometers from Podgorica, seven shifts were organized during the summer, so more than 300 children will spend their summer for free again this year.
The director of the resort, Saša Milošević, told "Vijesta" that they are trying to provide children with a pleasant stay, that 50 thousand euros have been invested in the pavilions in the last three years, but that it is not that important because the children want to enjoy themselves outside.
"They don't even spend much time in the room, because they have various daily activities. Among others, they have thematic lectures on a healthy lifestyle, we try to influence their thinking in this regard while they are still small," said Milošević.
In addition to children, Veruša is also visited by various sports associations, because the altitude of about 1.200 meters is ideal for preparations.
Milošević told "Vijesta" on Sunday that there are currently 90 children staying at the resort, but that there is always room for those who want to rest, away from the city's noise and heat.
"Our institution has organized shifts during the summer and winter, but children who want to relax and enjoy the pleasant climate and beautiful surroundings can come individually and pay for their stay. I think the prices are available, say seven days with full board, with transport and insurance, it costs 110 euros in three installments. Of course, that price includes all the courses of our resort and the help of professional services," said Milošević.
Near the resort is the village of Suvo Polje with about 36 houses, where people who prefer a slightly lower temperature and fresh air stay on weekends.
They say that lack of water is their only problem.
They are supplied from a nearby catchment, but they are not sure if the water is correct, so they still bring it from the city
Health worker Petar Maraš has been spending his free time with his family in Veruša for years, where his children stay during the entire vacation.
"I come on Fridays and on Sunday evening I have to go back to Podgorica for work," Maraš said.
Tvrda claims that Veruša is the most beautiful place on the planet, and during the week he comforts himself that Friday will come soon, and therefore a new vacation on the mountain.
He remembers beautiful moments when his children were small, when, he says, he got them used to healthy food, natural surroundings and picking blueberries and other forest fruits.
Weekenders trade, there are no crowds
In a small grocery store on Veruša, they say that there is currently no great interest, and the other one was not even open on Sunday.
"Popular 'weekenders' trade the most, but in this period it's not that crowded. Fruits and vegetables are most in demand, and the prices don't differ much from those in Podgorica," the saleswoman told Vijesti.
One gets the impression that the store is well stocked with basic food items.
