The director of the Budva Waterworks Milenko Medigović debunked the allegations that Budva is to blame for the lack of water in the capital Cetinje, stating that not a single drop from the Podgor source has been taken over by that public company in the past ten months.
"Anyone who had good intentions could have called us and asked for that information. The real truth is that Budva has not been using the Podgor water source since September, which is completely uneconomical, and that not a single cubic meter of water has flowed towards Budva since then. We are really sorry that Cetinje is facing such a difficult water supply situation. Budva can't really be blamed if Cetinje doesn't have water, or Šavnik guests," said Medigović.
Budvi all the water, and the citizens of Cetinje have bottles>>>
He emphasized that Budva relies mostly on the regional waterworks from which it draws the largest quantities of water, as well as local springs in Reževići and Buljarica.
Cetinje Vodovod denied the citizens' claims that the reason why that city has frequent interruptions in water supply is that the water is given to Budva
According to him, it is not clear to him where the accusations from Cetinje towards Budva came from, because in all the previous years he had excellent cooperation with the city's water supply there.
"We have long-standing correct cooperation with the Cetinje Waterworks and we always go out of our way to meet each other. This will continue to be the case, and we are always here to help," concluded Medigović.
Water supply: Faults and drought are to blame
Cetinje Vodovod denied the citizens' claims that the reason why that city has frequent interruptions in water supply is that the water is given to Budva. The acting director of JP Vodovod i Kanalizacija, Miloš Ražnatović, says that "the claim that Cetinje does not have water, because it is supplied to Budva, is completely incorrect, as well as the fact that the pumps at the plants break down, that is, suspensions in the water supply only happen in the summer".
"We remind you that the water supply during the daytime hours, for which, since last year, restrictions do not apply, has been suspended during other parts of the year as well, and that all the disappearances are exclusively related to the objective difficulties faced by JP Vodovod i kanalizija, and - as this was on several occasions this year, especially during the spring - for the works of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore on the Buljarica-Vir-Podgor transmission line. To all this, we should add the fact that it is a period of great droughts, which directly complicates the whole problem," says Ražnatović in his reacting.
He points out that, when it comes to the claim that JP Vodovod i kanalizazija gives water from its sources to the municipality of Budva, he claims quite responsibly that this is not true.
In support of that claim, Ražnatović cites an official letter from JP Vodovod i kanalizacija Budva, dated April 4 of the current year, in which they were informed "that the company will not use water supply from the spring in the area of the capital Cetinje".
