"Danilovgrad today, like eleven brave Danilovgrad teachers a century ago under the Austro-Hungarian occupation, has the honor and obligation to defend the Cyrillic alphabet against attempts to abolish it in our schools. This is opposed by the most patriotic, intelligent educators, who in this suppression and erasure of the Cyrillic alphabet correctly they recognize the ridiculous attack on our language and culture. There is an attempt to destroy our spiritual origin, integrity and historical vertical. Only the Latin alphabet is affirmed, in order to create the basis for the young generations to be transformed into new, identityless individuals, without convictions and principles, subject Montenegrinization, Westernization, and gangsterization. This should become proof of the "overthinking" of Montenegro and its violent placement in the "new circles of civilization" - as our current rulers promise us. As if anyone will respect and accept us in a decent and civilized world, if let's renounce ourselves and cancel our own culture, value system and tradition," it was announced.
In the announcement, it was said that the gesture of Professor Jugoslav Blagojević, who works in the high school named after St. Peter Cetinje, "is a justified revolt due to the total discrimination of our language and culture, on exact examples, where the high school management, despite the official requests of the ombudsman and the educational inspection, did not respects the constitutional principle that both letters are used equally in the school, so both Latin and Cyrillic, not just one or the other."
"The action of Nataša Latković, the director of this high school, to take professor Blagojević to account because he opposed the discriminatory practice according to which in school announcements, announcements and, in general, official communication, only Latin is used, and not, equally, both Cyrillic and Latin letters , is extremely inappropriate, unconstitutional and discriminatory. Calling this distinguished professor to disciplinary responsibility - with the qualification that it is a serious offense, conducting police court investigations and proceedings in the school, clearly shows that an open dictatorship and a Goebbelsian-fascist view has begun in Montenegro reckoning with the original educational, cultural and spiritual values of our country," announced the People's Coalition.
They add that "it's no wonder that this kind of disciplining and discrimination started from the Danilovgrad high school, because the students of this school all these years have shown self-awareness, knowledge and respect for their ancestors, publicly protesting against the erasure of the Cyrillic alphabet from the school and disregarding our historical, cultural and state dignity. "
"The People's Coalition - Honorable for Danilovgrad - DNP, SNP and JKP of Montenegro fully supports Professor Jugoslav Blagojević, this exceptional and highly respected educator, and is indignant at the actions of the director of the Petar I Petrović NJegoš gymnasium in Danilovgrad, as well as the actions of all those who try to reduce our native language to some new Montenegrin slang, with Latin as the only alphabet. Instead of Professor Blagojević, after almost forty-one years of work, being rewarded for his devoted and selfless transfer of knowledge to generations of high school students, political, inquisitorial actions aimed at silencing and intimidating educators in the run-up to the upcoming local elections," the statement concluded.
