Jovo Kapičić, the former mayor of Ozna, who after the recent attack in downtown Belgrade said he was moving to Montenegro, changed his mind and said he was staying in Serbia.
In a statement for Kurir, Kapičić says that he still decided to stay in Serbia, where, as he points out, he has been living for the past 75 years.
"I said that I should move from Serbia, where at the age of 93 I am being beaten on the street. However, I decided to stay because none of the people I talked to approved of my decision," explained Kapičić, as quoted B92.
He says he is not interested in the police investigation into who beat him on December 12 last year, nor does he expect that person to be found. He is not interested in going through the courts either.
"I will not sue the attacker. He did what he did. I would only ask him if he is satisfied with what he achieved and how he would feel if someone had waited for his grandfather in the same way," Kapicic said, adding that he has problems with the blows eye and dizziness.
However, he adds that he is pained that Serbia sent a demarche to Montenegro because of the "Nikolaidis case" and states that he too could demand responsibility from the Government for being attacked.
"I could now spit on the Government because they didn't look after me. Why weren't there two policemen with me, or one? But I'm not going to do that or ask for security.
What struck me the most is the fact that there is not a single official in Belgrade who said he was sorry that the attack happened," said Kapicic.
