"Kotor" ceremonially handed over to Montenegro

The solemn handover ceremony of the first ship of "Crnogorsk plovidba" (CP), named "Kotor", was held today in Shanghai, in the presence of the Montenegrin delegation led by the President of the Assembly Ranko Krivokapić and the Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Dr. Andrija Lompar.

"The handover of the ship "Kotor" and the construction of the ship "Bar" should speed up the application of international standards and regulations in the country. We expect that the competent authorities, above all the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Telecommunications, will accelerate the application of standards and regulations that are necessary for maritime business on the world market, through the urgent adoption of proposals for maritime laws. Otherwise, it may happen that the ship "Kotor" will be stopped or forced to change its flag, and that our seafarers sailing on foreign companies will be on "black lists", announced the Board of Directors of the Association of Sea Captains of the Merchant Navy of Montenegro based in Kotor .

In the Captain's Association, they also expect seafarers, in accordance with the practice in the world, to recognize their interest and to be shareholders in that company, as well as to appear as investors. that is, ship owners in other projects, because, despite the current bad market, it has the ability to get loans from banks.

"The existing Seamen's Union of Montenegro should start promoting the protection of seamen's interests and work more intensively with them and promote tripartite social dialogue, because, otherwise, cases like 'Nuada', 'Aetea Sierra' will happen more and more. The authorities should finally recognize and stimulate the need for professional and proven maritime staff, first of all in maritime administration, and in the maritime education, training and employment system, as well as in all other maritime economic activities on land", says the announcement.

The Association of Captains pointed out that they appreciate the efforts put in by the competent institutions and individuals by acquiring new ships and welcome the start and work of Crnogorska plovidba.

"We expect that the work of CP will be exclusively based on market fundamentals and we believe that the management of the company will only be able to cope and survive in the demanding international maritime market of shipping space, in which it will provide unreserved support, only with a professional attitude and rigorous measures of cost control and savings.
