German Ambassador to Montenegro Pius Fischer announced that Germany will help with the construction of an electrical transmission network from Budva to Pljevlja with 70 million euros, which will enable Montenegro to export energy from renewable sources after the installation of the submarine cable to Italy.
"We are negotiating a loan of 70 million euros for the construction of a transmission network from Lastva in Budva to Pljevlja. "Later, the underwater cable that Italy plans to build from Bari od Lastva will be connected to that network," he said.
The construction of the transmission network and cable, as he assessed, will enable Montenegro to export energy from renewable sources from the Balkans to Italy. This will be, as he said, in line with the EU's goal of increasing the percentage of renewable energy in renewable sources and reducing gas emissions.
Fischer spoke at the Regional Conference Implementing Reforms on the Road to the European Union: "How Montenegro Can Cope With Climate Change".
Representatives of the non-governmental sector appealed to the governments in the region to take "faster, immediate and effective actions to mitigate the consequences of climate change".
"We believe that the previous plans, programs and strategies have absolutely not fulfilled their form, maybe they are as a written document, but they are certainly not due to insufficiently effective implementation on the ground", said the executive director of the NGO "Green home" Darko Pajović.
