Member of the executive board of the National Tourist Association and the Tourist Association of Žabljak, the owner of the Hotel "Javor" Milenko Stijepović strongly denied the recent claim of the director of the JP National Parks of Montenegro, Rad Gregović, that there is a lobby of restaurateurs in Žabljak that prevented the construction of a restaurant on the Black Lake.
"Someone with such a slogan hides their insufficient ecological knowledge and the intention of extracting income and other benefits, which is possible for a short time but devastating for the entire eco system," says Stijepović.
Stijepović recalled the time when he was the director of NP "Durmitor" and the beginnings of the construction of the building, when, giving approval for the construction, UNESCO insisted on building the building on wheels.
"We are for all of them to be put to use as soon as possible and for a restaurant to be built on the lake as soon as possible. But to build a building adequate to that location, which is in the heart of the strongest eco system in NP "Durmitor". That building would complement the tourist the offer of that area and the entire municipality, but in addition to the hospitality industry, other development structures would also benefit from it. It cannot be a building made of concrete, sheet metal, iron structures, plastic... but of natural materials. The project that was on the last tender it would have been built from unacceptable materials, and the dimensions of over 700 square meters with halls and lounges and even apartment-type accommodation make it such," says Stijepović.
He added that the regulations for construction in national parks, especially on the shores of glacial lakes, which have been approved by UNESCO, allow the construction of buildings up to 150 square meters with open terraces and an unobstructed view of natural values.
Stijepović recalled the time when he was the director of NP "Durmitor" and the beginnings of the construction of the building that burned down at the end of last year when, giving approval for the construction, UNESCO insisted on the construction of a building on wheels that would be removed from that position every day, both because of the environment and due to waste removal and parking of vehicles and products left behind by vehicles.
Stijepović says that tourism workers are committed to the rapid and high-quality construction of new tourism catering facilities.
"We are of the same opinion and we need to bring in new investors immediately. This environment and the whole country can only benefit from that. Immediately, in the spirit of the regulations, we should also build a restaurant on the lake. And for the sake of not repeating this summer's mockery and anti-propaganda of tourism in our city. To avoid a repeat of the summer scenes with tents and canopies made of planks up to and on the lake. All without elementary hygienic and sanitary conditions, because why or how to income, with suspicious jobs of inspection," Stijepović said.
