Professor Florian Biber from the University of Graz, Austria, recently compiled a list of bizarre, i.e. strange and unusual universities in the Balkans, and the Montenegrin private institution, one of the founders and owners of which is former Prime Minister Milo Đukanović, came in third place.
Professor Biber estimated that, of the University "Donja Gorica" (UDG), the Bosnian institution "Slobomir" and Kosovo's "Iliria" are more strange, while the Serbian "Megatrend" was in the fourth position of that ranking list.
"The University of Donja Gorica (UDG) is a little more modest when it comes to the name, although it aims to become the Oxford of Montenegro." Milo Đukanović, one of the owners, along with the very liberal economist Veselin Vukotić, make extra profit in that process. Oh, yes, the University is also very orange", describes Biber UDG, alluding to the photo of the graduates from that institution's website, where they are dressed in orange togas, with caps like their European peers wear.
UDG was founded in 2008, and in addition to Đukanović and Vukotić, the founders and owners are businessman Tomislav Čelebić and professor Dragan Vukčević. UDG waited two years for a work permit.
