The harvest began below Durmitor: Farmers dissatisfied with the harvest

On about 50 hectares of granaries in the villages below Durmitor, an organized harvest with a combine harvester has begun. In this way, the promise made by the Minister of Agriculture Tarzan Milosevic during his recent working visit to Žabljak is realized.

The work was carried out through the agro business center from Žabljak, so Željko Macanović's harvester arrived from the Pljeval village of Glibaći.

First, the granary of Hadži Milorad Kovačević in Kovačka dolina was harvested, and then the harvester moved to Pitomine to the arable fields of Milica Baranin, Miš and Labud Šibalić, and then to Uskoke near Miloš Ćurić.

The weather forecast favors the Durmitor farmers, so in the coming days the harvester operated by Vule Macanović will process the granaries of the rest of the 15 Durmitor households, as many of them applied to have their barley, buckwheat and oat crops harvested by the modern machine.

The head of the agro business center, Mr. Darko K. Stijepović, says that the ministry will refund the costs of hiring the harvesters.

Several farmers we talked to said that the grain yield was not the best and they explained this by the unfavorable meteorological situation during grain development.

This is also the case in the granaries around Pljevalje, where the harvester was operating, said manager Vule Macanović.

The farmers of Durmitor were pleased with this gesture of Minister Simović and announce that in the coming period they will do autumn plowing and prepare everything for sowing next spring.

They say that they acquired this knowledge through previous professional education organized for them by the agricultural center and advisory service.
