In Petnjica, the traditional event "Days of the Diaspora" was opened, which for the ninth time brings together people from Bihor who live and work abroad.

Opening this event, the President of the Municipality of Berane, Vuka Golubović, said that today there is no continent in the world, from Europe to Australia, where someone from this region does not live and work.

He emphasized that the Petnjica diaspora helped Montenegro and its Beranes and Petnjica "overcome the most difficult moments of sanctions and wars, as well as that it made a great contribution to the independence of Montenegro."

The President of the Municipality said that the local administration helped the development of Petnjica and the implementation of important infrastructure projects - street improvement, construction of a mini-bypass, water supply, residential buildings and rehabilitation of roads in the area of twenty Bihor villages.

Bihor covers an area that is geographically larger than many Montenegrin municipalities, but Petnjica has been unsuccessfully fighting the battle for the return of that status that was taken away from it in 1957.

Since then, and especially since the construction of the modern highway between Beran and Rožaj, this region has remained a traffic dead end, and began to stumble economically. Migrations are constant and unstoppable, so today it is believed that another Petnjica of seven-eight thousand inhabitants lives scattered around the world.

The favorite destination of Bihors has always been Luxembourg, where they also have their own district. It is within the scope of the Diaspora Day and the event "Native of Bihor Trail 2011" that the "Luxembourg Evening in Petnjica" is scheduled to be held.

The Tuzla Canton, where many people from this region also live, presented a valuable book collection of a thousand titles to the Petnjik House of Culture on this occasion.
