Podgorica: Vandals cause damage of up to 50.000 euros per year

Fountains and public fountains in Podgorica are often the target of vandals, who break or steal faucets, gratings, nozzles or reflectors.

The damage caused by unscrupulous citizens amounts to up to 50.000 euros per year.

The company "Vodovod i Kanalizacija", which maintains 40 public taps and six fountains in the city and the municipalities of Golubovci and Tuza, told "Vijesta" that there is little they can do, except to file a complaint against an unknown person.

"The problem is that such things happen late in the evening or early in the morning, which means that behind these undesirable phenomena, as a rule, there are persons unknown to us," it was announced from "Vodovod".

The money allocated by the company for the repair of damage caused by vandals could, according to the company, be used to expand the water supply network, improve water supply or fecal sewage services.

"Vodovod" announced that there are very frequent interventions in the repair of public taps, because it regularly happens that vandals completely destroy the taps, the stand and the body of the tap.

It is also a regular occurrence that fountains "dawn" stained, that faucets, grates, nozzles, reflectors of buildings are broken and stolen, that nozzles and faucets are filled with twigs and completely clogged or that slabs and stone are broken with faucets.
