More than 20.000 people lost formal health insurance, because their residence was deregistered or their temporary residence or permanent residence was canceled or terminated.
5.937 of them had a chosen doctor, so a large number of places were freed up for insured persons who until now could not register with doctors in health centers due to crowding.
The continuation of the "cleaning" of the base is part of the activities carried out by the Health Insurance Fund since last year.
In previous years, the insured base had 708.720 patients, which is about 60.000 more than the total number of inhabitants.
This was an obstacle for the insured to have a doctor of their choice, especially in Podgorica, where almost a third of the population lives.
Last year, there were 50.327 deaths in this unorganized and unupdated database, of which almost a third, 17.000, were registered with selected doctors.
After the deletion of the dead, within the framework of the Fund's project, formal health insurance was deregistered for 11.660 persons who are listed as refugees from the former Yugoslav republics and internally displaced persons from Kosovo, and who did not submit a request to regulate the status of a foreigner with permanent residence or temporary residence in accordance with the law. At that time, about 5.000 places were "freed" for selected doctors in Montenegrin health centers.
The last round of base cleaning, completed on April 1, brought the most vacant positions for selected doctors to coastal municipalities and Podgorica. There are 1.705 vacancies in Budva, 1.271 in Podgorica, slightly more than 500 in Bar and Herceg Novi, around 400 in Tivat, and 360 in Berane.
The updating of the database of insured persons is carried out with the help of the Central Register of Residents (CRS), which has been managed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) since last year.
