The traditional cultural and spiritual event "Days of Saint Basil of Ostrog", organized by the Diocese of Budimljan-Nikšić and the Church Municipality of Nikšić in honor of the Saint of Ostrog, begins with the promotion of the magazine for Serbian language, literature and culture "Slovo", which will be held at 17 p.m. in the Church People's House.
As in the previous 15 years, St. George's Day will be marked by a holy bishop's liturgy, which will be celebrated at nine o'clock in the Stupovi Stupovi monastery in Berane, while at 17 p.m. a solemn litany will begin in the streets of that city.
On Saturday at 19 p.m., an exhibition of monastic handicrafts will be opened, where works from the monastery workshops of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral and the Eparchy of Budamlje-Nikšić will be presented.
Sunday, May 8, is intended for the youngest as well as Russian film lovers.
At 12:19 p.m., the children's entertainer Radojica Stanković, better known as Šanta Panta, will perform the play "Crafts", while at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. the Russian film "Fortress" will be shown.
On Monday, May 9 at 19:XNUMX p.m., Hieromonk Artemios from the Grigoriat Monastery of Mount Athos will give a lecture, while the following day at the same time, a poetry evening dedicated to Kosta Ninković, the deceased poet who is one of the founders of "St. Basil's Day", will be held.
On May 11, at 19 p.m., Bishop Joanikije of Budimljana-Niššić will hold a lecture on the topic "Spiritual legacies of Saint Basil of Ostrog".
The event, which has been celebrated since 1996, ends on May 12, the day when Vasilije, who was declared a saint for his healing powers, passed away.
On that day, which is the glory of the Nikšić Cathedral as well as the city, the sacred liturgy of the bishops will be served, while at 18 p.m., as every year, a solemn litany begins in the streets of Nikšić, which is traditionally attended by several tens of thousands of citizens.
