No bars were closed for serving alcohol to minors the previous weekend.
Deputy Chief Inspector of the Tourist Inspection, Svetlana Šljivančanin, assessed that the increased controls of catering facilities, which they carry out with the Police Directorate, have borne fruit.
"Restaurants have taken our work more seriously, so waiters now ask for an ID card much more often," said Šljivančanin.
She believes that serving alcohol to minors is a systemic problem, the solution of which must be more seriously involved, both by the state and educational institutions, as well as by parents.
"We will continue to carry out daily checks together with the police, and we will especially intensify our activities during graduation parties," said Šljivančanin.
She added that in previous actions they temporarily closed five Podgorica bars "Stara Podgorica", "From dusk to dawn", "Insomnia", "Rodeo" and "Broadway".
"Madona" in Bijelo Polje and "Friends" in Nikšić were also closed.
According to the Law on Tourism, a fine of 550 to 3.300 euros is prescribed for serving alcohol to minors.
The fine for a legal entity is from 110 to 550 euros.
Five fines
In the last two months, the inspectorate temporarily closed seven bars for serving alcoholic beverages to minors, in five of which the misdemeanor proceedings were completed and the perpetrators were fined. Šljivančanin said that bars remain closed until the end of the misdemeanor procedure and that the work permit cannot be revoked for the first violation, but only if the action is repeated.
"After the end of the procedure, the facilities were opened due to the impossibility of imposing a protective measure, i.e. revoking the work permit. They will be closed on every subsequent occasion," said Šljivančanin.
The amount of the fine, as she states, depends on whether the offense was committed for the first time and how many minors were caught drinking alcohol in the bar.
