The yard in front of the residential building at the Old Airport near the Health Center has been covered with a large amount of oil for several days, which, according to the locals, was most likely spilled from the tank of a truck or other vehicle of similar tonnage.
Local resident Drago Čogurić told "Vijesta" that he noticed the spilled oil four days ago, and that the rain that fell on Monday and Tuesday further worsened the situation.
"That land, which, as far as I know, used to be the property of Carine, is now abandoned and does not look like anything. I appeal to the competent authorities to fix the existing problem, because children, citizens and tenants from a nearby building pass by there every day," he said. is Čogurić.
Trying to resolve the situation, he called, he says, the Environmental Inspection, but no one answered his numerous phone calls.
Chief environmental inspector Vesna Zarubica told "Vijesta" yesterday that after the newsroom's call, she would send environmental inspectors to the field, which she did, and after the inspection of the inspectors, hired the company "Hemosan" to fix the problem.
"The oil was spilled next to the container, and because of the rain, it spilled and covered about seven to eight square meters of land. It is possible that the oil was accidentally spilled, but we will still strengthen control around the car service, which are located nearby," Zarubica said.
